Want to be involved in a collaborative film-poem project?
We’re looking for various readings of (or responses to) this short poem:
The eloquence remains —
seems to —
even as
I forget
to watch for it
(time and
time
again)
Guidelines:
1) Read/recite the poem while taking a video with your phone, but do not include images of yourself in the video. Capture the environment you are in. Or try to capture the spirit of the poem with your short video.
2) You don’t have to sound like “a poet” reading it (but you can, if you want), and multiple readings or submissions are fine, complete with starts, stops, missteps, etc. We’re not necessarily looking for overly polished readings. (Yet very polished readings or interpretations are welcome, too.)
3) Embellish on the content if you want (add or subtract, change the wording, rewrite it). Or just respond to the content and invent something new.
4) Any resolution or data quality is acceptable, from low-res to HD.
5) Submit by uploading your video to Vimeo (make sure your video is downloadable in the settings) and send the URL link to drichardson@eiu.edu. OR if the video file is easily downloadable from another source (such Dropbox, etc.), send a link to the file in the submission email. An .mp4 format is preferred, but all standard formats will be accepted. If the video is quite small, you can send as an attachment to drichardson@eiu.edu. Include your name and where the video was taken. Include general contact information. Please include “The eloquence remains” in the subject line of the email.
Questions? Please send an email to drichardson@eiu.edu or dave@rockyhillstudio.com.
All selected readings/videos will be credited. Participation in the project is your approval that the video/audio submitted may be used in a non-commercial film-poem by Rocky Hill Studio. Deadline extended to Dec. 1, 2014.
If you are interested, just give it a shot. Don’t overthink it. Multiple submissions are okay.
Dave Richardson / Rocky Hill Studio
THANKS!
